In Memory of Congressman John Lewis

Statement from Liz Watson, Executive Director of the Congressional Progressive Caucus Center:

“We are mourning the loss of Rep. John Lewis and our thoughts go out to his family, his staff and all those who knew him.  We all live in a better country because of his bravery, his unwavering fight for justice and his lifetime of service to the cause of freedom.

As Rep. Lewis said, “Freedom is the continuous action we must all take, and each generation must do its part to create an even more fair, more just society.”  He did more than his share in his lifetime.  We commit ourselves to take up the unfinished work of building a fair and just society in his name. May he rest in power.”
